Your gift supports not only our students, but our community.
The College of Applied and Natural Sciences consists of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry, Biological Sciences, Health Informatics and Information Management, Human Ecology, and Nursing. The common thread that runs through the College is the science-based and hands-on structure of each program. Due to the applied nature of our College, faculty and staff have experienced a challenge in adjusting courses to an online format in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Our focus on student success has allowed us to develop creative and innovative ways to use technology to meet the need of our students, as well as share compassion and patience.
In these extraordinary times, there are faculty, staff, and students in each program of the College who have worked diligently to make a positive difference on campus and in our community. On Tech’s 2nd annual Giving Day, we would like to highlight two of these programs.
Nursing students are impacting lives during this time of crisis. A graduating senior, Maecee Thornton just completed her preceptor experience at a local hospital. She shares, “The Louisiana Tech Nursing Program is a fast-paced, high stress environment that prepares you for the real world. The amazing faculty gives you enough freedom to learn self-discipline while giving you the support to grow confidently in your nursing career. Louisiana Tech has a history of sending excellent hardworking nurses into the field, and I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing program.”
Tech’s Food Pantry has been meeting the nutritional need of students across campus during this time of need. Co-Founder, Dr. Catherine Fontenot shared, “When you’ve had to move people off campus, it really restricts what you can do and our new normal has just been really challenging for everybody.”
As we face daily uncertainty during this pandemic, please know how extremely grateful we are to our alumni, partners, and industry leaders for their encouragement and support.
