ESPE/PEK

ESPE- Exercise Science and Physical Education

PEK- Phi Epsilon Kappa

ESPE and PEK are two organizations within the Louisiana Tech University Kinesiology Department. Exercise Science and Physical Education (ESPE) is the student organization, and Phi Epsilon Kappa (PEK) is the honor fraternity. Both organizations have been actively engaged in activities at Tech for a number of years, and these organizations work closely together at meetings and campus events. We consider ourselves one big family!

Why Are We Raising Funds?

By participating in Champs Change, we are hoping to raise funds to better our organizations and to help our members get more exposure to help them in their future careers. Kinesiology is the study of the movement of the human body. There are a variety of careers in this field of study, including sports medicine, fitness coaching, personal training, and occupational therapies. Most Kinesiology graduates enter healthcare fields, so it is important that students gain exposure to different occupation opportunities in order to improve communication skills, as well as recognize other perspectives related to health. We strive to better our understanding on how to learn and adapt our methods when working with individuals who have a variety of medical conditions and health concerns. Funds raised will give us the opportunity to host more events for our students to get engage with leaders in health careers. Another goal that we have set for the upcoming school year is to host foster children at Memorial Gym. We would engage with the kids through personal interactions, physical activities and art projects. This event will help our members learn how to work with young people when they enter the work force.
